On December 10th the Zihuatanejo Pier has been reopened with a temporary structure. It's operational for embarking and disembarking to Playa Las Gatas beach and fishing trips.
On October 29th CETEG affiliated teachers peacefully took over the facilities of the City Hall of Zihuatanejo. They only allow operation of some revenue areas and all other departments have been temporarily moved to "Casa de la Cultura". The take-over of the facilities is for an indefinite time.
On October 26th with 87% of the votes in favor, the State Congress appointed Dr. Rogelio Salvador Ortega Martinez as Interim Governor of the State of Guerrero.
On October 26th Mexico changed its time so clocks were set back one hour. In Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo CST will be in effect until the first Sunday of April 2015.
On October 23rd the Governor of the State of Guerrero, Lic. Angel Aguirre Rivero, requested an indefinite leave to retire from office. According to the law, the Administration State Secretary will be the Provisional Governor for a maximum of 30 days during which time the State Congress must appoint an Interim Governor to assume the official duties for the term of the leave.
On October 20th the Zihuatanejo Pier was completely closed due to structural damage caused by heavy seas from Tropical Storm Trudy. This closure will be in effect until damages can be fully assessed to determine the actions to be performed.
On August 14th the new bridge at the city of Coyuca de Benitez on MEX-200 from Acapulco has been fully opened for traffic.
On July 14th TAR AEROLINEAS began a new non-stop flight to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo from the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Also, one stop flights from the cities of Durango and Monterrey, Mexico. Link in "Transportation to Town"
